A note that got forwarded to me by my friend, Gail, that originated with Laurel True, the Director and Co-founder of the Institute of Mosaic Art.

From Laurel:

As may of you know, I travel a great deal to teach and facilitate community mosaic projects both here and in Africa. I am about to embark on a series of international projects and below is some information on my next project, which will be in Kenya.

I will be doing an artist's residency this fall at a glass workshop in Nairobi, Kenya called Kitengela Glass, an amazing mosaic- filled wonderland on the edge of the Nairobi National Park. As part of the residency, I will be facilitating a community mosaic mural project with school children at an alternative school founded by Kitengela Glass artist Nani Croze. I will be working with youth to design and create a mosaic mural using recycled glass that will be sited on the facade of the school.

I am very excited about this project!

I am funding this project in part through donations run through a really cool website called Kickstarter, which helps to facilitate funding for creative/ alternative projects.

If you or anyone you know is interested in making a micro-investment in this project, please read on...

Even a small pledge will make a big impact.

My goal is to raise $3,200 by September and I am about 1/3 of the way there!

For more info and to see a short video of me explaining the project, please visit my Kickstarter page.

I will also be taking school supplies over to Kenya. If anyone would like to contribute school supplies, I am devoting one suitcase to this. Drop off during IMA business hours.

Please forward this to anyone you know who might be interested in investing in this project.

Have nippers will travel.

Thanks so much,
Laurel True
